Amaryllis turned 1 and I must say, there is some stubborness and determination creeping into our daily routines. She wants to turn the light off. She wants to hold Cricket's leash. Thankfully though, she is still going potty. Twice a day (I only try after naps). I guess this means she goes every time I do try :) But I also know that after naps is when she is full and needs to go. So I'm not sure if it is good timing, or she does it on purpose. She has not gone poo on the potty in a long time.
New Goal: So, my goal for this month is to try and 3 times a day. The third time will be during play time. I want to see if I interrupt her play, if she will go on cue. This will take discipline on my part. I am still not gung ho enough to do it out in public or at playdates.
Note: she definitely for sure with out a doubt knows when she is going potty, looks at me, and says her word for "potty" while pointing to her bum. How can I get her to do this before she starts pooing? We'll have to work on this.
My thoughts: it is very casual and relaxed, and at this point it is just routine. Each session takes about 2 minutes. I don't feel stressed or even think twice about it anymore. There are no tantrums, forcing, cajoling, mind games, rewards or locking myself in the bathroom for hours on end. Thus far, I'm glad I started her early. Maybe it will take months until she is technically potty trained, but at least we are doing it in a laid back stress free environment. All in all, I'm glad she is comfortable on the potty and happy of her progress.
